BCS’ vision is to be a world-class organisation for IT. With a 70,000 strong membership including practitioners, businesses, academics and students in the UK and internationally, BCS required a hosting partner that demonstrated class leading infrastructure combined with good technical ability, reliability and customer service.

In 2006, BCS were looking to consolidate all of their services with one trusted specialist hosting supplier and chose Sleek as their supplier of choice. With BCS driving through leadership to the Information Society as a whole, they really needed a hosting partnership that would underpin BCS’ IT credibility by designing a ‘greener’ lightweight service that didn’t compromise on performance, scalability and availability.

Sleek constructed a solution using a hybrid model of virtual and dedicated servers based around HP Proliant architecture, NetApp SAN storage with Linux and Citrix XenServer as the OS and Hypervisor. This private cloud platform is protected by Juniper Firewalls and load-balanced by Brocade ADX ServerIron appliances. Forums, e-learning applications and several dedicated servers supplemented the solution.
