The MS Society is the UK’s largest charity for people affected by MS (multiple sclerosis). Approximately 100,000 people in the UK have MS.

Founded in 1953, the Society works tirelessly towards the vision of “a world free from the devastating effects of MS.” The Society supports this aim with a clear mission: “to enable everyone affected by MS to live life to their full potential and secure the care and support they need, until we find a cure.”

The Society funds MS research, provides grants, education and training on MS. It also produces numerous publications on MS and runs a freephone specialist helpline.

The MS Society through all its channels of communication delivers content and support to those affected by MS with the aim of increasing awareness and tackling some of the wider issues people with MS face.

An important enabler of this communication strategy is having an internet presence from which to serve and push this vital information and so in 2008 when the Society was investigating new providers, they looked to Sleek Networks to design and implement a new service for them.

In partnership with Sleek their services were moved to a new tailor made platform that not only delivered immediate performance and administration improvements but also offered cost savings and efficiencies.

Customer Quote

We chose Sleek Networks because they understood our requirements from day one and made us feel really valued as a client.

We’ve been impressed with the quality and consistency of their service over the past two years – so much so we’ve just asked them to host our new website as well.

Bob Barbour – Head of New Media at the MS Society

The Managed Solution provided is based on HP Proliant Servers, delivering Web, Application, and Database engines, all protected by secure Juniper SSG Firewalls. Supplementing these services, Sleek also manage their domain names and provide professional services for application configuration, capacity and performance management.

The performance and integrity of the platform was put to the test in 2010 when the society launched the ‘MS Week’ advertising campaign. Despite a marked increase in traffic resulting from all the media activity from national and local newspapers, the website fully met the demand and delivered 100% uptime for the duration of the campaign.

Bob Barbour –

“ To our members, supporters and those seeking general information about MS, our online presence is critical. In this digital age, it is the single most important way of reaching out to anyone wishing to find help and information about our services and MS. Sleek enable this strategy and ensure that these services are always available to those that need them.”

Ryan McCarry – Director at Sleek,

“Working with charities and not-for-profit organisations like the MS Society is hugely important to us. These organisations , are the cornerstone of our society and we are not only honored to be their chosen supplier but pleased to be able assist in delivering their message and services to the many people that rely on them on a day to day basis.”
